Beltz Lawyers Settle Medical Malpractice Case Involving Methanol Posioning for $2.4 Million
A 47 year old physician suffering from alcoholism ingested windshield washer fluid which contained methanol. Patient was brought to a hospital in intoxicated condition with the history that the patient may have ingested windshield washer fluid. Doctors and hospitalists ignored history and diagnosed alcohol withdrawal. A simple blood test would have diagnosed methanol poisoning which required very specific and immediate treatment. Delay in treatment resulted in patient's blindness.
