A 50 year old over-the-road truck driver stopped at a hotel commonly used by drivers as a truck stop. He was descending a concrete stairway when a portion of the stairs broke away causing the man to fall. The fall resulted in a painful back injury and required two surgeries.
Shortly before the case was set to go to the jury, the defendants agreed to pay a $1.5 million cash settlement.
